Mortal

Solo Exhibition By Mina Mohammadi Seresht11 to 25 September 2020

Mina considers herself to be an experimental painter, taking pleasure in exploring different subjects and materials. However, the most prominent theme of Mina’s works is colored pencil representations of portraits and figures. She depicts her personal space, with the belief that an artwork is created under the influence of the artist’s life and surroundings. Her works are inspired by photographs, ones she takes herself. In this latest collection, Mina has turned to her archive of family photos for inspiration.
Regarding this collection, entitled ‘Mortal’, Mina states, “While looking at my old family photos, I felt a sense of longing for those good old days. With every picture I examined, I would get lost in a reverie. I thought to myself that the memories inhabiting our minds are all mortal, and what has remained within are images that will gradually perish.”

This collection includes 60 paintings of colored pencil and mixed media on cardboard, all inspired by the artist’s family photo albums. In some, she has combined images, creating a new aura, while, in others, she has reconstructed the exact image itself.
