Suspension

Solo Exhibition By Samila Amir Ebrahimi14 May to 11 June 2021

The initial idea for the works you see in this exhibition was formed in 2017, with the first part, entitled “Things and Places”, displayed at Hoor Gallery in 2018. Even though they might seem different in terms of form and theme, the works present in this collection, all created in the past few years, speak of a common feeling with regard to familiar conditions, a sensation we continue to experience.

Samila Amir Ebrahimi was born in Tehran in 1950. With a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Political Science from Tehran University, she went on to complete her studies in etching and printmaking (chalcography) at the Advanced School of Design for Art and Industry in Paris in 1973, later earning a BFA in Fine Arts from the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland in 1978. She has held 33 solo exhibitions, in addition to taking part in more than a hundred group exhibitions inside Iran and abroad. Samila Amir Ebrahimi’s other activities include her work as a translator, writer and university professor.

“Suspension” is her 34th solo exhibition and her first solo collaboration with INJA Gallery.
This collection is comprised of 21 paintings and drawings in different sizes and will be on display at INJA Gallery until June 11, 2021.
