A Still-Life is not a painting of inanimate objects. The items are not just alive by themselves, but life has sunk into their skin; they are a slice of our existence, our biographies and our experiences over time. Meaning they exist beyond themselves.
In Persian ‘Still Life’ is translated as ‘lifeless nature’ similar to the French “Nature Morte” yet all these lack the idea of soul and the ‘unplugged life’ of the objects themselves.
